An intimate wedding with Susan and Ashley

Yesterday we photographed the wedding of Susan and Ashley, who married in Etton Church, in East Yorkshire. They were originally due to be married in June this year, but owing to the COVID pandemic, they had to rearrange.

Susan and Ashley were joined by a small number of close family and friends. This was due to the current restrictions on weddings. All the congregation, with the exception of the bride and groom, had to wear face masks during the service. In addition, everyone had to adhere to the rules regarding social distancing.

This was our first wedding following lockdown and the biggest challenge for us was not wearing a mask. Our biggest enemy yesterday was the good old British weather! It is not the first time that we have photographed a bride and groom in a howling gale, and I am sure it will not be the last! We could barely keep our feet such was the force of the wind!

The bride arrived with her mother and the first ‘hat chase’ of the day began with much laughter! The vicar was quick off the mark and managed to retrieve mum Lesley’s hat before she escorted Susan down the aisle.

The service was delivered with humour and the vicar was sensitive to the the unusual circumstances. There were no hymns, but the vicar made good use of recorded music to create some atmosphere.

Hair and hats flew daintily along with the confetti and to say the weather was wild at this point would be an understatement. Despite this, Susan and Ashley and their guests braved the elements with good humour. This meant that we were able to photograph the family group quickly despite the wind.

We concluded our photography with photographs of the bride and groom.

Susan and Ashley are a lovely couple. We wish them every happiness in their future life together.

Pre Wedding Photography with Susan and Ashley

Well after almost four months in lock down, it is wonderful to actually get back to photography.

Yesterday we met up with Susan and Ashley who are getting married in August. Despite the government restrictions, which means that numbers are restricted, this lovely couple are having a beautiful church service. They will be joined on the day by a small group of family and friends.

After a long rest, with most of this years weddings being postponed, it was great to pick up a camera again. Susan and Ashley were very easy to work with and it very soon felt like we had never been away!

A Dunedin Country House Wedding with Vicki and Sam

Yesterday we photographed the wedding of Vicki and Sam. They were married at Dunedin Country House in Patrington. It is a lovely venue for a wedding and the staff always take good care of everyone.

When we arrived the ladies were chatting whilst having their make up done by Toni Neylon-Walker, and hair by Simone Folks. It was soon time for the bride to put on her dress and we were able to do some lovely portraits of Vicki before we headed off the meet up with Sam and his best man Ryan.

The weather was overcast which is perfect for photography and we quickly completed the boys photographs before heading back to see our bride.

Vicki wore a stunning dress from Jacquelines of Beverley. The maid of honour Chelsea and bridesmaid Clare looked lovely in their powder blue dresses. The little flower girls Hannah and Nancy looked so cute and were beautifully behaved.

Flowers were provided by All Occasions of Howden.

The little ones reluctantly began the bridal procession before the bride was walked down the aisle by her father John.

The short service was followed by the all important signing of the register with the brides mum Janice and the grooms mum Mandy, acting as witnesses.

After the service, guests enjoyed a celebratory drink before everyone headed outside for the formal family photographs.

There was lots of laughter for the throwing of confetti after which, the guests headed back inside whilst we worked with the happy couple.

Rachel from Sakura Productions was on hand to capture every moment on film. We have worked with Rachel before and it is always a pleasure to see her.

Vicki and Sam opted to have speeches before the meal, and afterwards the guest were entertained by a singing waiter, who truly got the party in full swing.

We had a lovely day with Vicki and Sam and wish them every happiness in their future life together.

Yorkshire Region Wedding Photographer of the Year!

Looking for the very best wedding photographer? I am pleased to announce that I was awarded Yorkshire Region Wedding Photographer of the Year 2019!

The British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) is an internationally recognised body that exists to support and promote professional photography. It sets high standards for its members who have to qualify to a recognised standard to become a member.

In the summer of 2019, I entered the three images that are featured here in the Yorkshire Region print competition. I was delighted to take first second and third place in the classical wedding category. In addition, I was awarded the coveted title of Yorkshire Region Wedding Photographer of the year.

So why should you book a professional photographer from a recognised body? Well firstly, because you can be sure that you have booked a professional who can deliver a high standard of images and will be friendly and efficient.

Choosing a wedding photographer is an important decision. The choice can be overwhelming. To try and make things easy for couples I have put together some information here that is intended to make choosing easier.

Firstly, do your research! Have a good look around. Try and find a photographer whose style you like. Arrange a visit. Ask to see complete weddings.

Don’t be fobbed off with one off, wow factor shots. If you can see a complete wedding, you will see whether that person can handle all aspects of a wedding.

Also ask if the photographer can show you weddings in all weather conditions! Can they show their skill at working in sunshine and in rain? There are no guarantees with the weather and there is no second chance!

If you would like further information, give me a call on 01482 629430.

Pre Wedding Photoshoot at Dunedin Country House

On Monday we met up with Vicki and Sam who are to be married at Dunedin Country House in East Yorkshire. The wedding will take place in March with close family and friends in attendance. We were greeted at Dunedin with a warm welcome and coffee and flapjack! It was a lovely start to the photoshoot and from past experience we know that this kind of welcome is the norm for Dunedin.

After a chat about Vicki and Sam arrangements, we headed outside for their pre wedding photoshoot. It was a little windy but we managed to find some shelter to take the photographs.

We are very much looking forward to photographing the wedding and look forward to sharing the photographs very soon!
