Oh wow! What a day! I don’t know where to start but thank you to Laura and Gareth for giving us the opportunity to photograph their wonderfully stylish and glamorous wedding. Given that my favourite era for photography was the forties and I love all of the portraits of the hollywood movie stars from this period; this was my wedding photography heaven! Thanks to Laura’s mum Julie (who was totally amazingly stylish in her Vivienne Westwood suit) and to dad Kieran (who was equally debonair in his dressing gown and snazzy socks – you had to be there!) who made us feel like part of the family and took care of us so beautifully. From the bonkers bridal prep with Laura posing perfectly with her mad mane of backcombed hair through to the Forties dance troupe at the reception, this was a day to remember. Despite the weather (which frankly should be ashamed of itself for being such a wet blanket in the face of such a chic occasion!) their family and friends were totally up for photographs when arriving at the church in the drizzle; so much so that at one point we had an orderly queue! Orderly was not a word I could use for the groomsmen however, (though they were very dapper!) who were typically mischievous and took great delight in my squatting down to get their photos; ah well, boys will be boys! The gospel choir had everyone waving their arms and clapping along to ‘Oh, happy day!’ and we had a lot of laughs with Gareth and Laura achieving a first when I asked them to touch heads. I shall spare their blushes, but suffice to say that the three of us fell around in hysterics when we should have been doing the register signing shot! I think I need to improve on my direction! I could go on and on – it was FAB-U-LOUS! Thank you and congratulations Mr and Mrs Ellerby, you have class, you have style and David and I wish you all the love in the world for your life together!
